Sad and melancholic piano pieces

Slow pieces in minor keys: Chopin's E minor prelude, Satie's third Gymnopédie, Grieg's Åse's Death, old ballads and laments. Sad music is often easier to play than it sounds; most of the expression comes from a singing melody and a patient tempo, not from fast fingers.
