About this piece

Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764) is the composer of Tambourin, a Baroque piece that is slow and in a minor key, with a wistful feel. There is one arrangement: Intermediate (level 3 of 5), 3:06 long, in E minor. In the app it belongs to the Dances collection. Note the pickup: the music starts with an upbeat before the first full bar, so count yourself in before the first note.

About Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764): French Baroque composer and music theorist who wrote colourful harpsichord pieces.

How to play Tambourin on piano

  1. Split the piece into sections and learn them one at a time, hands separately first.
  2. Loop the bars that keep going wrong. The app's per-bar feedback shows exactly where they are, so you don't waste time on the bars you already know.
  3. Move up the play-along speeds in steps, 50% then 75% then 100%, only when a section is clean at the current speed.
  4. Feel the dance: tap the rhythm of the first bars before you play, and give the first beat of each bar a little more weight.
  5. Short daily sessions beat one long weekly one. Ten focused minutes a day is enough to make steady progress.

In the PianoKite app you can learn it with your own digital piano over Bluetooth or USB, or with any piano through the microphone: the score scrolls past a playhead, the keys light up, and every bar gets a score so you can see what's learned.
