How to play Sonata, K. 31 on piano
- Expect weeks, not days. Learn it section by section and keep a list of the hardest passages to practise first in every session.
- Slow practice is the fastest way forward: loop the difficult bars at 50% until they are clean, then 75%, then full speed.
- Decide on fingering early for fast passages and write it down; changing fingering later costs more time than it saves.
- Sonatinas are built from scales and broken chords. Settle on a fingering for each run the first time you play it, and use the same one every time.
